ABOUT GNIA
Generation Next International Awards (GNIA) is an initiative aimed at recognizing, appreciating and celebrating individuals, companies and governments around the world who are doing tangible things with their talents, innovations, power, ideas and money to better the future of their immediate society and the world at large.
GNIA is an extraordinary award with a global perspective, and can only be won by those who truly deserve it with tangible proof and evidence of meeting all the requirements for consideration. Unlike many awards, the methods for selecting nominees and eventually awarding the winners of GNIA is comprehensive and totally in the hands of the general public. The general public makes the nominations and also determines who wins based on the set criteria for qualification in the various categories. The process of nominations and determination of winners for GNIA is so comprehensive that it will take no less than six months. Nomination and voting are done directly on the GNIA website and via sms. Prior to the nomination stage for GNIA for each year will precede a huge campaign of public awareness and open invitation to participate in the nomination and voting process using every medium available.
ESTABLISHMENT & ORGANIZATION
Generation Next International Awards (GNIA) was founded and established in 2002 by Maxwell R. Daki, the publisher and editor-in-chief of Generation Next magazine ISSN 1596-1710 which he founded in 1999. The Generation Next International Awards (GNIA) however, did not kickoff until 2014 with its first ceremony and presentation slated for March 2015. The GNI Awards is organized annually by FOBE Network Limited, a media, entertainment and event management company based in Nigeria.
VISION
The vision of the GNI Awards is to create a better tomorrow for the coming generation by encouraging, celebrating and appreciating extraordinary young people and all individuals, companies and institutions who are doing special things to better the future one way or the other.
GNI AWARDS SCOPE
The GNI Awards are international awards with a global scope and focus specifically designed to honour all deserving persons, institution and organization around the globe. Nominations for the annual events are not limited to any country or continent. Nominations in various categories and voting will be done globally by all interested persons who want to add their voice to cause change and better the next generation.
2015 GNIA
The 2015 Generation Next International Awards will take place in Nigeria and nominations will be limited to individuals, companies and institutions in Nigeria. This is made so deliberately due to factors beyond the organizers control at this time. The 2016 and subsequent editions of this great event will be open for nominations and participations around the world.
CRITERIA FOR NOMINATIONS
There are several criteria for nominations for the GNI awards. Some of these criteria are quite different for some of the categories of the awards. The criteria for the individual awards are different from the corporate and institution criteria.
Criteria for Corporations/ Companies:
(1) The company must have a tangible investment on the youths of the society where they operate.
(2) The company must be youth friendly in their corporate policies and activities.
(3) The company must have good products and services for young people. Good products that genuinely improve and better the lives of young people who patronize them.
(4) The company must have strong humanitarian programmes and policies in place, and regularly implement them.
Criteria for Institutions:
(1) The institution must be headed by a youth or a youth friendly person.
(2) The institution must have a great relationship with the youths within its domain and immediate environment.
(3) The institution must have great infrastructures and facilities for youth development that are accessible to youths.
(4) The institution must have strong humanitarian programmes that are implemented regularly.
Criteria for Individuals:
(1) The individual must be a youth or youth friendly person as evident in his/her official activities.
(2) The individual must have used his/her position, power or talent to improve the lives of the young people within his/her society and beyond.
(3) The individual must have helped to build or is helping to build infrastructures and amenities that will better the lives of young people within his or her immediate society.
(4) The individual must have displayed great sense of generosity towards the wellbeing and welfare of the young people of his/her society and beyond.
(5) The individual must have invented, created, initiated or produced something of great importance that is very helpful to the young people of today and the future.
